MISS MANATEE SOFTBALL LEAGUE

COVID-19 Guidelines for Travel Team Practice

While Miss Manatee Softball League travel teams are resuming practices, the health and safety of our players and families remains our top priority.  Outlined below are the procedures and guidelines which should be followed when attending practices at Miss Manatee Softball Fields located at Lakewood Ranch Park.

**The guidelines, procedures, and recommendations below do not replace or supersede any protocols or restrictions outlined by our state and local authorities for both Florida and Manatee County.  It is imperative that state and local guidelines are followed at all time.**

This document is available at www.MissManateeSoftball.com.  All parents/guardians should fully review this document and discuss expectations with their players.

General Guidelines:

·      Follow all state and local guidelines.

·      If a player or spectator comes in contact with someone who is diagnosed with COVID-19 and they have been to the MMSL Fields an email should immediately be sent to the League President at [email protected] and the Travel Coordinator at [email protected] so that teams who have been in contact with that person can be notified.

General Player Guidelines:

·      Any player or attendee experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend practices at MMSL Fields.

·      Players should sanitize hands often.  Coaches/parents are responsible for supplying hand wipes or hand sanitizer.

·      Players should avoid handshakes, high fives, etc.

·      No sunflower seeds or gum should be brought to practice.

·      The use of team shared equipment should be limited whenever possible.

·      If a player contacts COVID-19 she will not be permitted to return to practice without a doctor’s note.

General Coach Guidelines:

·      At the end of each practice, coaches must ensure all trash is removed from the dugout.

·      Coaches must sanitize shared equipment after each practice/prior to the next practice.

Practice Guidelines:

·      Maximum field capacity for practices is 30 occupants per field.  Each field is defined as the playing surface, outfields, bullpens and sidelines  This includes players, coaches, parents, siblings, and spectators.   Unless going to the restroom, people should remain at the field at which their team is practicing.

·      There will be gaps between practice times to avoid crowds congregating.

·      All spectators/players should remain in their cars until the previous practice has finished and crowds have cleared out

·      Teams should clear out immediately after practice to make room for the next team.

·      Batting cages are not to be used prior to practice start times to limit congregation of crowds.  They can be used for practices, but only during your allotted practice time.

·      If using dugouts, coaches should sanitize benches/hard surfaces when entering and again when leaving.  Coaches are responsible for supplying their own cleaning/sanitizing supplies.

·      If using dugouts, both dugouts should be utilized and players should be split evenly to ensure space to practice social distancing.

·      If not using dugouts, social distancing guidelines should still be followed, and players should space bags/equipment out accordingly.

·      No shared water coolers should be used.  Each player should have their own water jug.  Teams should not share in any post practice snacks or drinks.

·      Parents/spectators should practice social distancing and not congregate in groups.
