MISS MANATEE SOFTBALL LEAGUE

COVID-19 Guidelines

Updated August 1, 2020

While Miss Manatee Softball League plans to have a Fall 2020 Season, the health and safety of our players and families remains our top priority.  Outlined below are the guidelines that should be followed when attending Miss Manatee Softball League activities.

**The guidelines below do not replace or supersede any protocols or restrictions outlined by our state and local authorities for both Florida and Manatee County.  It is imperative that state and local guidelines are followed at all time.  Miss Manatee Softball League’s Board of Directors reserves the right to adapt these guidelines as needed.**

This document is available at www.MissManateeSoftball.com.  All parents/guardians should fully review this document and discuss expectations with their players.

General Guidelines:

·      Follow all state and local guidelines.

·      If a player, coach or spectator is diagnosed with COVID-19 or has direct contact with someone who is diagnosed with COVID-19 and they have been to the MMSL Fields an email should immediately be sent to the League President at [email protected] and the Vice President at [email protected] so that teams who have been in contact with that person can be notified.

General Player Guidelines:

·      Any player, coach, or spectator experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend games or practices at MMSL Fields.

·      Players should sanitize hands often.  The league will supply hand sanitizer dispensers in all dugouts.  Players are encouraged to have their own hand sanitizer to use as well.

·      Players should avoid handshakes, high fives, etc.

·      No sunflower seeds or gum should be brought to games or practices.

·      The use of team shared equipment should be limited whenever possible.

·      If a player or coach contracts COVID-19 she/he will not be permitted to return to team activities for 10 days.

Game Guidelines:

·      Maximum field capacity for games is 60 occupants per field.  Each field is defined as the playing surface, spectator area along the outfield fence, bullpens and sidelines. This includes players, coaches, parents, siblings, and spectators.

·      Unless going to the restroom, people should remain at the field at which their team is playing or practicing.

·      With a maximum capacity of 60 people per field for games, spectators are limited to one adult per player, and it is encouraged to limit attendance of siblings when possible.

·      Spectators will not be permitted in the bleachers or behind the backstop.  Spectators should bring their own chairs to sit along the fence in the outfields or along the foul lines fence past the dugouts.  Spectators should not congregate in groups, and social distancing guidelines should be followed.

·      There will be a 15 minute gap between games and practices to avoid crowds congregating.

·      Teams should clear out immediately after games and practices.

·      No shared water coolers should be used.  Each player should have their own water jug.  Teams should not share in any post game/practice snacks or drinks.

·      All spectators, players, and coaches should remain in their cars until teams from the previous game or practice have cleared out.

·      Batting cages are not to be used prior to scheduled warm up/practice times to limit congregation of crowds.  They can be used for warm ups/practices, but only during your scheduled warm up/practice time.

·      At the end of each practice or game, coaches must ensure all trash is removed from the dugout.

Practice Guidelines:

·      Game guidelines listed above should be followed during practices.

·      Maximum field capacity for practices is 30 occupants per field.  Each field is defined as the playing surface, spectator area along the outfield fence, bullpens and sidelines. This includes players, coaches, parents, siblings, and spectators.
